September 11th, 2001 ~ Ten Years Later...
It is on this day that we remember the tragic events of a clear September morning ten years ago. A morning that changed our country forever. I know many of us were too young to understand what was going on at the time of the attacks.
Why were our parents crying and acting scared?
Why did we go home from school so soon?
Why did that plane fly into that big building?
Those were the questions I asked on that day.
If I remember correctly, I was in Preschool. They called our parents and had us all sent home. My mom went in and quickly turned on the TV and switched it to the local news station. It was then that I saw footage of a plane crashing into a tall building, followed by that building falling down in an enormous cloud of dust and debris a little while later. I had no knowledge of The World Trade Center or anything like that, so that was all I could make of it.
Well now their leader is dead, the war rages on, and here we are a whole decade later.
So, where were you when the Towers fell? If you remember, feel free to share your story. If you don't remember, offer your opinions, tributes, etc.
Meanwhile, I saw this Public Service Announcement on TV a few days ago, commemorating the anniversary.
"Ten Years Later, We Are Still One."
So, where were you when the Towers fell? If you remember, feel free to share your story. If you don't remember, offer your opinions, tributes, etc. Meanwhile, you can add this to your signature to pay tribute!

I was in 1st grade at the time. I remember an unclear announcement over the speakers at school, and the teachers looking confused. I remember my mom picking me up from school, an when I asked what was wrong, she just shook her head. I got home and mom turned the news on. She explained it all to me. Some bad people had stolen some planes and blew up two skyscrapers, and that thousands of people had just died. I was a pretty smart kid, but that was just too much for me to comprehend. My grandma had died a year before that, and i realized that millions of people were sad and crying, just like my mom was my grandma died. That's pretty heavy stuff for a 6 year old. I will never forget that day, and neither will the rest of the country. No, neither will the rest of the world.

I had to think for a minute to remember, but before I tell my story, I'm going to summarize it in three words:
Ignorance is bliss.
It was a normal day. I had just turned 5 that summer, and I wasn't in any form of preschool, I was sitting at home on the floor in my room playing Diddy Kong Racing on my older brother's Nintendo 64 while he was at school, and he of course came home early, but I was too wrapped up in playing that I really didn't notice till my mom came in and told me it was time for dinner that evening.
I can actually remember the details of the game somehow.
I was playing as conker the squirrel on the hovercraft world(I never knew the name of it)
I was doing the silver coin runs and then did the normal races because I loved the hovercraft.
And that's really it.
Ignorance is bliss.

My dad was at Ground Zero when it happened. He's ok, thank god, but it's still scary to think about it. I was 7, at my grandmother's house. Something came on the TV and my mom started freaking out. Who could blame her, really. When she got a call from dad, she felt a lot better. After that, we fled to Long Island, to my aunt's house.
Since I was 7, I didn't quite know what was going on, so I wasn't that scared. Now that I actually understand what was going on, it was terrifying.
My heart goes out to the victims.

I was at day care, at the age of 4. I remember my teachers there talking about it, and being worried and jumpy the whole day. When I got home, my parents told me about it, and how horrible it was. I was a pretty smart kid, so I got the gist of it. I hope the best for the victims' family and friends.
