A Rant on Hetalia
Yesterday, having nothing better to do with my life, I decided to watch Hetalia Axis Powers. This of course was done on our DVD player's Netflix Instant Player feature. Quite a few things happened. First, I watched the first three episodes. My expression was mostly "What that F@#$?" (Unfortunatly we have no smilie for that one). I guess the thing just went right over my head. Then my bro came in.
Bro: *while knocking and opening the door* MMMMMOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!
Me: She's upstairs
Bro: Whatcha watching?
Me: Hetalia Axis Powers. It's like scandinavia.
Bro: Oh *leaves*
At that point, I got up and grabbed some dinner. Returning to my comfy spot on the ground I hear a knock and the voice of my sis asking me to open the door.
Me: *opens door* Hey
Sis: Hey. Whatcha watching?
Me: Hetali-
Sis: OMG! I LOVE THAT SHOW!!!!! *steals comfy spot on the floor*
From that point, I ended up watching the whole first season (26 episodes) with the occasional pause in which my sis (Took AP World History) explained all the politics. It kinda grew on me. I took the favorites of America and Britian, cause well, they're just plain awesome. And I have to admit, Italy is incredibly likeable, much like a certian OC we all know and love :Ankh:
Just before starting the last episode of the first season, my dad comes home.
Dad: Whatcha watching?
Sis: Hetalia Axis Powers [insert description of the show]
This episode was that one with the cursed chair. Yeah, a pretty random one. All that I can do to explain the scene is this:
Sis:
Dad:
Me:
The only way my dad could describe the show was "Man, that's annoying!"
Which brings us to today in which I go to my friend's house. After explaining the events of the previous night, she said, "Oh well let me see it"
Thus i brought up the english dub for her and after the first episode (aka 5 minutes of random countires) her only reply was comparable to Silver when he was obsess with Italy, which comparably, she also has taken a favorite with Italy.
Go figure.

Re: A Rant on Hetalia
Tht sounds a lot like how I was introduced, though with less people involved. In fact, my mom watched it with me and is now completely obsessed with Germany. I like Russia myself. It's actually the most popular anime (Aka the only one anyone has ever heard of) besides Naruto. I'm currently working on convincing my English, German, and history teachers to show it in class... We'll see how that goes.
Re: A Rant on Hetalia
That's one of the few animes that I can stand to watch dubbed. The first time I saw it I tried to watch the first episode subbed and they were talking so fast that I couldnt keep up with the subtitles.
