what is the BEST game you've played in your life

Everyone has a game or game series that they feel is just the best game ever created. So post yours here and why it's so good.


Mine personally are the Portal games because they really challenge you without being too terribly hard. Plus they were able to add humor!

Mass Effect 2. It's such a personal game. The story is what you make of it. Your character is your own. The story is your's to control. Your decisions have weight, and effect anything from a tiny fact, to the outcome of the entire game. All this, plus fun cover-based combat makes it a game I could play over and over again.



Or Metal Gear Solid 4. The stealth gameplay, mixed with the emotional and engaging story makes this high on my list.



Dead Space 2. The strategic dismemberment element of the gameplay, and storyline.



Metroid Prime, Zelda Twilight Princess, and others are on this list as well.

Alright. I have a long list of "best game ever"s. I'll divide by gaming system, because I really don't want to have to rank some of these with each other.
For the DS:
The entire Phoenix Wright series in general, the writing and the amazing story make these some of the best games I've ever played easily.
Ghost Trick, whose intuitive gameplay and story are also fantastic.
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days, for it's surprisingly fun gameplay and good graphics, even though it's on the DS, along with it's very good story.
For the Gameboy Advance:
Pokemon Sapphire, for being one of the best pokemon games I've played, even in comparison to some of the new ones.
For the Gamecube:
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. I think I've spheeled enough about this game, but it's honestly still one of my absolute favorites. It's gameplay, story, and general amazingness still are fun to this day.
Ocarina of Time (I have the masterquest version on gamecube) I don't think I need to elaborate on why this is good to you guys.

The Wii:
Twilight Princess, again don't need to elaborate.
Skyward Sword, ditto.
Super Smash Bros Brawl, come on, it's Brawl.
Animal Crossing City Folk, although not my first, which was the gamecube one, but still my favorite to this day.
Wii Music, surprisingly. I really enjoy this game, and like the gameplay and music selection a whole lot.
The PS2: Star Wars Battlefront 2, oh man, this game. This game is the first shooter I'd ever played, and I instantly loved it. I still have fun with it, it's a really good game.
Kingdom Hearts 1, Chain of Memories, and 2. I know some of you don't like them, but the gameplay and story of all of them are actually really good.
The PC:
Portal, for having amazing voice acting and truly ingenious gameplay and puzzles.
Portal 2, for extending upon the amazingness of the first, and somehow becoming better, upping levels of gameplay, story, and voice acting to the best it could be.
Team Fortress 2, because come one, its TF2. Easily one of the best shooters there is, the balanced gameplay, hilarious characters, and insane level of fun will always bring me back to playing it.
Xbox360: Though I lack one, I've still played some great games on it.
Halo Reach, for it's excellent music, gameplay and story.
Gears 1 and 2 for being insanely fun to murder things along side Espe.

Holy crap I like a lot of games. The bolded ones are the best of the best of the best, I can't rank them against each other. So yeah...

I could go on and on about all the best games I've never played, but out of those I HAVE? Man, you people expect too much out of me.

Portal 2. Ohh maaaan, Portal 2.
Let's start simple. The graphics make me want to pee myself, in a good way. It has one of the best stories in any game I've seen, ever. The gameplay is wonderful and glorious and difficult and fun, but the real reason it wins the Quidditch is because of the ENDING. If there's only one complement I can give to the design team, it's they sure as heck know to end a game.

Space Core needs to win Game of the Year. JUST the Space Core.

I love the turret song at the end. (although my graphics card isn't high enough to run Portal 2 )

I always liked playing Spyro and the Jak and Daxter games when I was younger.
Especially Jak 2, since the gameplay was integrated and the story slightly depended on what you did. Like you had several missions at once, and you could choose which one you did first. All of the characters had their own unique personality and the scenery was just beautiful. The way it cycled from day to night. I dunno, I was prolly just easily impressed by it cuz I was so young. xD

I also like Bioshock too. .3.
And Fallout 3, buuuut I haven't too far yet.

I chose one game. One game to rule them all, one game to bind them, blah blah blah. Ace Attorney had enough mistakes for it to be less than Portal 2. The very existence of 2-1 should prove that to you. If I were making a list, Ace Attorney would be near the top, yes, but I limited myself to one.

Oh come on, 2-1 wasn't THAT bad. They had to start the game with something right!

I shall join Menrow as the second person to list Tales of Symphonia as one of the greatest games I've ever played. X3 The story was delightfully unique, I loved all the characters, and the game controls were just really easy to grasp.

I found it easier to play than Zelda, though it's much longer than any of those games, and the puzzles are harder.

I gotta throw Kid Icarus Uprising up there as well, it's pretty fantastic.

The new one with Brawl graphics, right? It sure looks cool.

Man, all these neat new games are making me want a 3DS...

You do need to get one, seriously, just because of OoT 3D, Super Mario Land 3D, Mario Kart 7, and Kid Icarus. Not to mention the loads of awesome games coming out this year for it too.

And as much as I adore OoT, I can't finish the game on my own. The revised version is pretty sweet, but I wouldn't be able to do much on it.

OMg me too, but I ruined the game for me and watched the anime and read the manga first. So I got bored of the game half way through T^T

PSHAW, that sort of thing only increases my eagerness to play. I knew the Symphonia story back to front before playing the game, and it was still incredibly exciting.

I've read all of the Abyss manga there is, but I've yet to watch the anime...I keep meaning to get on that.
