Some News I'd Like To Spread Empty Some News I'd Like To Spread

Post by Mario Mon Jun 10, 2013 6:37 pm

Hey, everyone. I'd like to take the opportunity to talk about something that's been bothering me and many other people for the past few weeks.

If you're a gamer, (which there is no chance you aren't) you must have recently heard about Microsoft's unveiling of their new Xbox One. If you hate it, (which you most likely do) fantastic. Even though you may know a lot of the scary rumors about Micro$oft's (lolseewhatididthere) next-gen offering, I want to make sure we can work together to spread the word about this horrible console and make sure that MS's greedy scheme does not succeed and prevent this sort of thing becoming the future of gaming.

Reasons Why The Xbox None...er, One...Is A Slap In The Face To The Entire Industry:

-It seems to be focused on being an all-in-one "entertainment hub", with many features involving TV, sports, TV, internet, TV, television, TV, and TV. Many consoles before have been marketed as "entertainment hubs", like the CD-i and the 3DO. Both of those were massive failures, and all signs point to the same for the Xbone.

-The console must connect to the internet at least once every 24 hours to "check for updates". If your connection is slow, spotty, or nonexistant, you're screwed. Not a problem for M$ execs, as they're rich and live in the city, but horrible for people like me who can't even afford to pay the bill most of the time.

-When you purchase a new game for the Xbox Done, it will be locked into your console's account forever. If you sell your game, anyone who buys it must pay not only the used game price, but a fee from Microshaft that could add up to the price of the same game when bought new. Moreover, if you were to bring your disc to a friend's house to play, you'd be shit outta luck, because they most likely won't want to pay. The fees are actually optional to the publisher, but since publishers hardly make any money off the used game market, they're gonna jack up the fee even more, and that's not taking into account the even MORE money Microsoft is gonna want to have, too.

-The Kinect must be plugged in at all times in order for the console to even function. Not to mention, it can see and hear everything that happens in front of it, allowing the potential for spys, the government, or Microsoft themselves to watch your every move and/or steal your information.

-All of the games on it are just more of the same old crap you'd find on 360, or available on PS4, Wii U, or PC. Hell, maybe even PS3 and 360.

-The graphics are "better", but who honestly cares anymore? Graphics are pretty much advanced enough, and they don't make the game better, never have, never will. If light shining through leaves and arm hair is the best they've got to offer, it isn't worth your time. Also, fish swimming away from your character as you move past is NOT next-gen technology. That kind of AI was possible and present in Super Mario 64, released in 1996.

-The thing looks like a VCR. It may as well be called the Betamax C720. It was made with TV in mind obviously, so they wanted to make it fit in, but you still need a set-top cable box to even use the TV features! Why need TWO boxes?!

-No backwards compatibility with 360 or the original Xbox. (AKA the REAL Xbox One) Sure, they may be downloadable in the future, but if this console is so dependant on the internet, inevitably, the servers will be shut down some time in the future, making those games AND ALL OF YOUR NEW XBOX ONE GAMES completely unplayable forever. The whole thing will be as useful as a paperweight.

-The name is awful. Xbox One? Isn't that the original Xbox's name in informal conversation? I can just see some stupid 13-year-old douche who isn't smart enough to not be M$'s money sheep begging his grandparents to buy him one, only for them to get an original Xbox because they couldn't tell the difference. Oh well, at least he got a better console.

-Voice control is a stupid idea. What was wrong with pushing your finger down one-eighth of an inch to press a button? If you were to accidently say, "Xbox, *do something*", it would do it, even if you didn't want it to.

-In addition to the best internet money can buy, and this most-likely expensive as hell VCR, you'll pretty much NEED an Xbox LIVE Gold membership to do ANYTHING. And that's ANOTHER fee. MONTHLY, THIS TIME. If you don't have a gold membership, you're unable to use Netflix, play games online with your friends, and probably a whole buttload of other things.

-Here's the kicker: The whole thing is simply a scheme for Microshit to monopolize the entire industry. It's all designed to make money. Microsoft does this with EVERYTHING, they want to own the way everyone lives their electronic lives. They're just yet another greedy corporation run by fat cats who have the potential to run the way future electronics work.

Well, that doesn't have to happen. Spread the word EVERYWHERE you go, every forum you're on, tell your friends and family, tell any sheeple Xbox fanboys who can't think for themselves, tell anyone with an ear to lend! This whole thing is one big conspiracy, and it has to be killed before it takes off. We have that power. Let's all just boycott this evil little black box and kick Micro$oft out of the industry once and for all. Maybe even out of business. This is the last straw.

If you or anyone you know is buying a new console this generation, make sure it's NOT the Xbox None. Get a Wii U. Get a PS4. Get an older one. Get a PC. Hell, get a smartphone, even that has more features! (Just make sure it's not a Windows Phone!) We must stop this evil cash cow from producing any more milk.

Viva la revolution.

Also, have a video of one of the smartest gamers I know of telling it like it is. Sorry for the double-post, library computers are a pain in the ass.
