Countdown to Zenkaikon

As many of you know, me, along with Deku and Sakura (as she's known on the Chatbox) will be attending Zenkaikon V this year. Deku is going as Link, (Ocarina of Time version) Sakura will be going as Deidara, (holy unexpected) and Yours Truly will be going as, you guessed it, Edward Elric. This is the topic where we will post the highlights of the event captured on my digital camcorder. Pictures and video, everything from the drive to the Convention Center, to our happenings amidst the cosplay awesomeness, meeting Vic Mignogna, all the way to heading back home. In time, I will edit it all into Windows Movie Maker, post it unlistedly on Youtube and put it on my blog and this topic. So during this time, you may ask us questions on here pertaining to the event prior to the posting of the video and the pics. HAVE FUN!!!!!

Starting with these that we took at Deku's house before we left.







I only took one.



The reason it's from the neck down is I didn't have my wig yet. I was planning on buying one there, even though my mom was totally against it. (Don't ask why. Even I don't know. I got the wig anyway, though :3.) But hopefully you guys can see my belt, pocket watch chain, gloves, jacket and kickass boots.

At around 9 am, we went to the bank and Deku withdrew his spending money. We stopped for gas, Deku got his boots from Sakura, (Who couldn't go with us because her mom is a f***ing b i t c h) then we headed off officially. When we got to Valley Forge, we got lost in the park a few times, but with directions from some nice passersby, we finally made it!

When we got there, we went inside, registered, got our badges and headed off into the convention. 2 problems, though: There were only like 20 people there (including another Ed and another Link =D) and half the rooms were completely empty because nothing was going on yet. We did meet some nice people inside. Including this girl:



When I bumped into her, she said she was her "female self", Edwina Elric. She had a watch, gloves, even foam automail!!! I'd never seen a gender-bend cosplay before, and if I ever had, this was probably my favorite. She was really nice, too. Deku said we should look her up on Facebook and convince her to join!

While walking around and waiting for the dealer's room to open, we bumped into a few more Eds along the way, all of them girls ><. Nobody knew who I was, "But not for long!!!", I told myself. We randomly stopped to catch our breath, and we talked about Sakura's Gaia friend, Sasuke, who was supposed to meet us there. Deku said, "If he shows up, he showed up. We're not gonna run around screaming 'Sasuke'." Some random guy in a KH cosplay (He had a giant key, that's the only reason I thought it was KH) walks past us, hears us talking and randomly said, "Sasuke!", as he's walking down the stairs. I began laughing my ass off.

Eventually, the dealer's room opened. It was kickASS! Any anime merchandise you could imagine: cosplays, posters, fan art, cards, figurines, EVERYTHING!!!! First thing I got: My wig. It was $35, but it was worth it. It looked like real hair, and it even had a braid and an antenna!!! (which I think I accidentally combed out -_-.) I also got 2 posters and an official FMA military pocket watch!!!!! The watch was $20, but again, WORTH IT. It comes in a fancy box with a viewing window of the watch on the outside. with instructions on the back I have yet to understand!!!!! (Not that I'm retarded or anything, they're just in japanese.) It has the dragon crest on the front, a chain and everything! But the inside of the watch itself is the epic part. The numbers are roman numerals. In the middle of the number space sits a black Flamel Crest. On the inside of the watch lid are the embossed words... "Don't Forget/3. Oct. 11". My inner fangirl squealed like a fangirl.

We were walking through the room when I spotted a red Ed coat at one of the stands. I walked over to check it out. It was nice. Not too thick, not stupid looking. I was gonna buy it, since the coat Deku got me was actually a big-ass red Snuggie that fit me like the robe Mickey Mouse wore in the original "Sorcerer's Apprentice". Then I looked at the price tag: $60. Now, that was NOT worth it. So, I decided to take a picture of myself in the coat instead.



Awesome, right? The fact that it was my PERFECT size was a one in nothing chance.

After we left the dealer's room, I rushed into the bathroom to put on my wig. It took me a good few minutes to get it on because my REAL hair is so goddamned thick. I ran out of the bathroom to meet up with Deku to head to the Vic Mignogna panel. On my way up, Deku said he didn't recognize me for a second or two. Here's our exact dialogue from that moment:

Me: *Runs up steps to Deku* Alright, I'm ready. Let's go in!
Deku: Whoa, dude, I didn't even recognize you for a second!
Me: Really?
Deku: Dude, you LOOK like Ed!
Me: Really? Sweet! C'MON, LET'S GO!!!

Deku WILL back me up on that. I know it.

Deku added eyeliner to make his eyes look more "animated", but it did make him look a little emo. XD

I was tired as hell when we took those ones in my house. Hense the emoness.
